9½ Weeks

7 Mar

An erotic story about a woman, the assistant of an art gallery, who gets involved in an impersonal affair with a man. She barely knows about his life, only about the sex games they play, so the relationship begins to get complicated.

imdb

Yesterday I watched this movie with my friends to have a laugh and because it’s a so-called ’80 cult movie.

Was it erotic? Yes, probably.
Was it a good movie? No, not really.
Disappointed? Yeah, totally!

Funny Games

22 Feb

In this English-language remake of a deconstruction in the way violence is portrayed in the media, a family settles into its vacation home, which happens to be the next stop for a pair of young, articulate, white-gloved serial killers on an excursion through the neighborhood.

It’s official! Haneke keeps scaring the hell out of me! Last year I watched “La Pianiste” and I was shocked and now… Funny Games!

Marco Mengoni – Italian music

21 Feb

The “Festival della canzone italiana” is an Italian song contest running since 1951 and held annually from Teatro Ariston in the city of Sanremo.

The contest ended yesterday after 5 nights of amusement and I have to say that this year I enjoyed the show because of one singer in particular: Marco Mengoni (he didn’t win the contest… unfortunately).

Italian music is not so known abroad (apart from opera) but I hope this guy could become a star not just here in my small country because he really deserves fame for his amazing voice. He’s just 20 but his talent is… huge!

Skins

13 Feb

The story of a group of British teens who are trying to grow up and find love and happiness despite questionable parenting and teachers who more want to be friends (and lovers) rather than authority figures.

imdb

It’s really hard to create a fresh “teen drama” but Skins it’s a breath of fresh air. Real people with real problems, not just cool boys and girls. Besides a great storyline and well-rounded characters, these young British actor are really amazing!

Models.com

25 Jan

While I was surfing the net instead of studying for my exams, I bumped into this site and it was really interesting (apart from being really eye-catching). You know I love photography and of course I would like to become a fashion photographer but it’s hard and well… it’s just a dream. This website made me think about my conception of beauty connected to this great art called photography. I saw a lot of pictures of handsome men and beautiful women (let’s be honest… mostly men) but just a few really caught my eye.

The Ugly Truth

25 Dec

In Sacramento, Abby Richter produces a morning news show that’s about to be canceled. To boost ratings, her boss hires Mike Chadway, a local cable call-in host who promotes the ugly truth: sex is the only glue in a relationship, men can’t change, and they only respond to women’s looks. Mike offends Abby’s sensibility: she has a checklist about the perfect man, and she’s found him in her new neighbor, Colin, a hunky doctor. Mike offers to help her reel in Colin if she’ll work with Mike on the show.

The Boat That Rocked

14 Dec

“The Boat That Rocked” is an ensemble comedy in which the romance takes place between the young people of the ’60s and pop music. It’s about a band of rogue DJs that captivated Britain, playing the music that defined a generation and standing up to a government that, incomprehensibly, preferred jazz. The Count, a big, brash, American god of the airwaves; Quentin, the boss of Radio Rock — a pirate radio station in the middle of the North Sea that’s populated by an eclectic crew of rock and roll DJs; Gavin, the greatest DJ in Britain who has just returned from his drug tour of America to reclaim his rightful position; Dave, an ironic, intelligent and cruelly funny co-broadcaster; and a fearsome British government official out for blood against the drug takers and lawbreakers of a once-great nation.

Futurism 12 June – 20 September 2009

23 Nov

I had the great opportunity of visiting London for my third time this summer and one of the highlights of my holiday was a special exhibition @ the Tate Modern.

Tate Modern celebrates the centenary of this dramatic art movement with a ground-breaking exhibition.

That’s how the official site introduced the exhibition.

It was definitely the best exhibition I’ve ever seen in my life!

(Almost) New Moon

22 Nov

Let’s just say I’m a big Twilight fun and I couldn’t wait to see New Moon. But surprise, surprise… the movie disappointed me. Ok… I have to admit that New Moon wasn’t my favorite book of the saga (Team Eclipse!) and my expectations were probably too high, but this movie was really too commercial in my opinion. I watched the movie with my friends yesterday night and they had the same impression. I can’t say I didn’t like it at all because… you know… I’m a teenage girl who loves vampires & love stories but sometimes it made me laugh because it was subconsciously comic. It’s not good when a teenager laughs in the romantic scenes of a movies… am I become so cynical?

I know I’m late but real life called me and I had to answer back… Today I’ll probably write 10000 posts *lol*

Well… let’s talk about this brand new series based on this book (you can read it there for free). It’s nice if you like vampires but it’s more for teenagers than True Blood (oh I miss it!).

Take a look at the official site!

In the small town of Mystic Falls, teenager Elena Gilbert and her younger brother, Jeremy, struggle to come to terms with the recent death of their parents. Elena is popular amongst her peers and the perfect straight-A student. However, she has difficulties hiding her grief from the world. Meanwhile, Jeremy treads on a dangerous path of using drugs to ease his pain. The arrival of new student Stefan Salvatore, makes Elena think about romantic possibilities. Elena is unaware about Stefan’s mysterious origins as well as his brother Damon.
